Documented - First Day of Filming- Scarlett Giannotti

Our first day of filming was a learning curve; it began at 12 pm after our morning lessons at school, we headed towards Carnaby Street with the props and filming equipment we needed for filming that day.
Props: A wooden Stall
           Guitar
           Guitar Case
           Busker Costume
           Coins
          Tripod
          Video Camera
We found Carnaby Street too busy to film; with the long distance shots we needed of the Busker, people were constantly walking in frame. Therefore we relocated to brick lane and found a quieter side road.   Having setup the frame and camera distance within the shot I got into character and practiced busking. During one take, an elderly man stopped right in front of me, in shot - not sure what to do, the camera was stopped not to waste film.
He ended up dropping 9p into the characters guitar case! I was completely zoned into character that I did not stop him!?
We faced small challenges throughout the day such as cars/people passing in shot but managed to accomplish them with several constant flows of good takes.

After several hours filming It began to darken, we decided to leave and come back as a visible change in the lighting/weather would make our music video seem unprofessional. Travelling back during rush hour; not as easy with the amount of luggage we had; and the stall. But all in all, a successful first days footage!

"Feeling of Love" Best Coast - Group

The song we have selected to use within our Final media Music Video Project is "Feeling of Love" -  Best Coast. I had never heard of the Song/Band before but instantly was a fan! In order to connect the music with the video we performed research into the Song and Band. The Band Best Coast are an American indie pop trio based in Los Angeles, California under Mexican Summer Label. The band is recognizable for their fuzzy, low-fidelity sound in the vein of surf rock. Their genre is a mixture of Surf, Garage and Indie Pop. Feeling of Love is a love song with a mellow sound; the powerful lyrics describe unreciprocated love from a point of view. Therefore we have used the lyrics as inspiration for the narrative of our video. Feeling of Love has never had its own Music Video by Best Coast; only a scene from a French film, therefore we were able to start from a blank canvas.

Prelim Task Summary- Scarlett Giannotti

The song we were given to use within our Prelim Task was "Moonlight Shadow" By Maggie Riley. The Group had never heard the song/Artist before or seen the music video. We researched the Music Video and found two versions, the full-length original, and a shorter one which omits a verse - the reason for the shorter version was for the requirements of some TV broadcasters. The music video consists of a performance by Maggie and the band, set within a homely living room next to a fire and a narrative, telling the story of what looks to be star crossed lovers. Moonlight Shadow" is a pop song written by English multi instrumentalist Mike Oldfield. The vocals were performed by Scottish vocalist Maggie Reilly who had joined Virgin records and Mike Oldfield in 1980. It has been Oldfield's most successful single to date. There was a long running urban myth (largely fuelled by the tabloid press) that the lyrics are a reference to the murder of John Lennon, despite the fact Lennon was murdered just before 11pm whereas the time stated in the lyric is 4am. Also, he was shot four times, not six.Our Music Video was inspired by Indie Pop Artist Lisa Mitchell's - 'Nepolitan Dream' Music Video. This Video has a quirky, mystical feel with a mellow tone to the song.
